Fireworks Safety Tips (Please Keep the Holiday Fun and Safe) . . .

Fireworks can be exciting—but they also pose real risks. Take a few precautions to help protect your family, pets, and property:

• Follow the label and instructions. Use fireworks only as directed by the manufacturer.

• Keep a safe distance. Light one firework at a time and move back quickly.

• Use a stable surface. Place fireworks on a flat, level area away from people, buildings, and dry grass.

• Never relight “duds.” If a firework doesn’t ignite, wait and follow the label’s instructions before disposal.

• Wear eye protection and keep kids supervised. Children should never handle fireworks.

• Have water handy. Keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby in case of small fires.

• Don’t wear loose clothing. Avoid flammable fabrics and use long sleeves/pants when possible.

• Light fireworks outdoors only. Never use them indoors, in garages, or on balconies.

• Store fireworks safely. Keep them in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.

Be prepared in case of an emergency: If there’s an injury or fire, call 911 right away.
